What a Solar Developer Needs from a Land Survey

A solar project lives or dies on numbers that come out of the ground survey. If the boundary is wrong the pricing is wrong, and if the terrain is misread the panel layout has to be redrawn. Accurate boundary and area verification

Land is priced per acre and capacity is planned per usable acre, so the first job is to confirm exactly how much land there is and where it ends. We use Total Station and DGPS to fix corner coordinates to centimetre accuracy and reconcile them against the 7/12 and revenue records.

A topographic survey for layout, drainage and grading

Once the boundary is fixed, the design team needs to know the shape of the land. A topographic survey captures spot levels, contour lines and existing features so panel rows, drainage and grading can be planned properly.
